Visualization and Creating Your Dream Life

Visualization and creating your dream life is mental rehearsal. Using your imagination to put together certain scenarios in the mind’s eye. In this specific situation, you want to be creating images that pertain to your ideal life and what you want it to be like.

Now I know this can be a little more difficult for those who have a hard time imagining things. I too had a really hard time at first and experienced utter frustration with putting my all into something and it not working.

That’s why I have put together some of the easiest and most effective techniques I have found over the years for you!

These practices that I am about to share have made my visualization experience so much more enjoyable.

Things to ask yourself ;

What type of home or dwelling would you live in? ( ie. big white French country-style home, condo in the middle of downtown, log cabin in the woods, tiny home on wheels.)

What would your ideal partner be like? ( ie. Funny, outgoing, makes you feel safe, allows you to set healthy boundaries)

Where would you live? ( ie. Costa Rica, Alaska, Canada, Hawaii)

What kind of vehicle would you have? ( ie. Audi SUV, Range Rover, Jeep, Lexus)

Where would you vacation to? ( ie. Exploring the outback in Australia, backpacking in India, yachting in Croatia)

A few things that I want you to know that I wish I knew before I tried this practice ;

1 ~ Please remember, you miss 100 percent of the shots that you don’t take. Know that when you put your mind to it, anything is possible.

2 ~ Don’t let self-doubt get in your way!

3 ~ Keep an open mind

4 ~ You deserve the life of your dreams

5 ~ Don’t get caught up in writing down someone else’s dream life. Be true to yourself and what you want

6 ~ Your subconscious mind hates change and leaving your comfort zone so be prepared to work through that

7 ~ Even if you are great at using your imagination, you will still need practice and patience

Ok, let’s jump right in!

Step 1: Decide what kind of life you would love to have. Feel free to use my examples above to jumpstart your mind. Be sure to focus on specifics. If your dream life consists of living by the ocean, make sure to notice the smell and sound of the ocean. If your ideal home has lush hardwood flooring, what does that feel like on your feet?

A tip to help with the imagination part of this, use a movie screen in your mind. It may be easier to visualize a screen playing a movie of your dream life.

Step 2: Attach emotion to your desires. Feel the excitement of what it’s like to already have the things you want in life. Cry if it feels right. Crying is actually very healing and allows room for new energy to come in. Now let yourself relax completely so that you can really immerse into these feelings.

Once you’ve nailed this practice you may find yourself tearing up from the gratitude and joy that comes from knowing that you are on your way to the life you know that you deserve!

Another tip: if you’re using the movie screen idea, now it’s time to imagine yourself stepping into the screen

Step 3: Let the Universe deliver. Yeah, it’s that easy. The Universe has our backs whether we believe it or not. Our minds are a powerful tool that we all should use to our advantage.

The last tip I swear for the best results, practice for at least 21 days.

When you doing the mental rehearsal of your dream life you can also add in some affirmations.

An affirmation is a statement that calls up an image or experience in your mind of already having what you want. An example of an affirmation would be :

“ I am so grateful that I can travel the world for 3 months out of the year to all of the interesting places I have always wanted to see and be able to work for myself running my own very successful business.”

Forgive the run-on sentence there. I always include gratitude in any affirmation. I feel like it just adds to affirmations and speeds things up a bit too.

Another thing that is very effective is writing yourself a cheque for the amount of money that you wish to have. Once you’ve done that, you can frame it and put it up on your wall so that you can see it every day. This all falls into “The Law of Attraction” idea. If you haven’t watched The Secret, I highly recommend it!

Feel the excitement and gratitude you have for receiving this amount of money. How accomplished do you feel that all of your hard work has paid off literally?

Putting together a vision board is an amazing way you can spark your imagination. You can use anything from a Bristol board to a blank scrapbook.

I used a little sketchbook with blank pages and just pasted some photos from magazines and personal photos inside in different categories (ie. work, home, travel, family, health). You can create your own categories if you’d like. Whatever you feel is the best expresses the life that you truly want.

Keep in mind friends, this practice is supposed to be fun. Don’t take it too seriously and remember to relax. Patience is an absolute must but I have faith in each and every one of you.
