How to begin your gut healing journey
First, many factors can lead to a disturbance in gut function such as food sensitivities, candida overgrowth, stress, parasites, lack of sleep, taking antibiotics, and many more.
Furthermore, here are some signs that you may have an unhealthy gut;
- Discomfort after a meal
- Chronic fatigue
- Gas/bloating
- Diarrhea
- Heartburn
- Weight fluctuation
- Skin Issues
- Moodiness/irritability
- Trouble concentrating/brain fog
- Sugar cravings
I don’t want to get too technical or use too much medical terminology with this post. I want it to be an easy read that will hopefully get you headed in the right direction to taking better care of your gut health.
Here’s the thing, I suffered from poor gut health for too long because I was uneducated. It wasn’t until I started seeing videos and articles on social media that I began to learn that the bloating and discomfort that I experienced after eating were not normal and were surely due to poor gut health.
I dove really deep into testing out different methods, eliminating certain foods, adding supplements, and making it my number one priority to find out what works for my body.
What worked for me
- Take Probiotics (Seed DS-01 Daily Synbiotic was my fave)
- Eating a healthy diet
- Eat smaller meals
- Chew your food thoroughly
- Drink plenty of water
- Get adequate sleep
- Exercise for at least one hour every day
- Incorporate fermented foods into your diet
- Meditating before each meal
The best piece of advice I can give you is to take your time and don’t cut everything out all at once unless that’s what you feel works for you. Remember that mental health and the gut are intimately connected. The side effects of healing your gut are; better moods, better sleep, clearer mind, effective digestion, potential prevention of some cancers and autoimmune diseases, brain health, and a strong immune system.
